How sad you are to be embarrassed of your own father....Who cares what people say...If they have bad things to say about your dad then you shouldn't be friends with people like that...

No, if anything they should be the ones embarrassed that they mixed up your father with your grandfather. There is nothing to be ashamed of. Parents are all different ages...and I'm sure that there are other kids that have parents around that age as well.
Also, I would NEVER make fun of someone just because their parents were old or looked old...let alone care how old people's parents are. I'm in highschool, and trust me...I've heard kids get made fun of for all types of reasons..you name it...hairstyle, weight, clothes, voice, etc. but NEVER have I ever heard anyone making fun or someone else for how old their parents are. Don't worry...!! And also don't be too hard on your dad. I'm sure he loves you very much & only means well...and besides, parents are suppose to embarrass you... it's like their job! everyones parents embarrass them at some point or another but really, i'm sure other kids won't even notice.

I think you're getting embarrassed over something that's hardly worth even THINKING about. You should know that it's quite common, everywhere, for kids your age to have dads in their 50s. You're not alone, and it doesn't matter what other people think (I doubt they even notice). He's your dad, so love him for who he is; don't try to change him. Because really, I think the only one who's unhappy here is YOU. Nobody at your school really cares, and your dad doesn't care either. So just try stepping back, and taking a look around. You'll see that there really isn't a problem at all. And in answer to your original question: NO I WOULD NEVER MAKE FUN OF SOMEONE FOR THAT!

You should not be embarrassed at all. You should be proud of your parents, no matter what their age. We are in our 50's and 60's,and our elementary age child can't get us to go to school enough. Some people have made the mistake of calling us grandparents too. That is their mistake. They should think before they make assumptions. The ones that should be embarrassed are those that got it wrong because they didn't ask. Parents who care enough to be involved in their children's lives deserve to be treated with the respect. Any ridicule for their age would be discrimination and should never be tolerated.

You should never be embarrassed of who your parents are. Unless of course they drive you to school in their pajamas and walk you to your first class! Be happy you have a father at all, some kids don't. And your dad "shouldn't" care that he is older than other parents, and neither should you be for him. He has earned his right to be the age he is gracefully. If others mistake him for your grandfather, just proudly say "No, that is my dad!" With a huge smile on your face!!!

NO, you should not be embarrassed. He is your father. You should be embarrassed if he was picking you up drunk. If he is a good father and his only crime is being old, I say you should be proud of him. Stop asking him to try to look younger. You're probably making him feel bad. I'm going to be 50 when my daughter is 15 and I know that I pray that she will never be embarrassed of me. She was my surprise gift from God and I love her dearly. I'm sure your Dad feels the same way about you.

My dad is almost in his 50's too, i dont try to hide it. No one makes fun of me for it. Plus, if someone were to make fun of me for how old my dad is, thats pretty immature. Especially if your 14, and so is the other person. I'd say tell them that he's your dad. If your embarrassed because someone thinks hes your grandfather, dont wory about it. Because in about 5 minutes they will forget all about it. You may not, and you'll walk around thinking hes cramping your style for probably the rest of the day, but usually the other person wont even remember.

No, He is your father. At your age you are easily embarrased, but as you grow up and mature you will find that most things you use to become upset about were just childish. A point will come in your life when you will look back and be glad that your father was involved in your life, and that he came to school to embarrase you. Think of all the kids who do not have fathers or have been abondoned. They may make fun of you, but later you will find this is because they are jeolous of you. No kid should ever be embarrased of their parents, but most kids are. You will grow out of it. Just remember your father is always there for you, and why would you be embarrased of someone who is always there?

There is no reason for you to be embarrassed about that. There is nothing wrong with you dad being older than other fathers. When people ask you if that is your grandfather, tell them proudly that that is you dad. They will feel worse than you!!
Be proud of having him as a dad as long as he is around!

when you grow up, you will regret being embarrassed by him. but right now you're a kid and you worry more about what people your age think. but most of these people you want to impress, you won't even know anymore in 20 years. you're just too young to see past that right now, and that's natural for your age. Most kids your age are embarrassed that they even have parents at all.....
