If so, how long? Like how many months later?

Breastfeeding has a supply and demand system. The more demand, the more supply. Take away the demand and the supply will go away with it. I wouldn't recommend letting your supply dry up if you plan to nurse later one. Try a breast pump if you're going to be away from your baby.

Producing breast milk does not mean you have to have a child through pregnancy. With the proper nutrients combined with the right hormones lactation can be induced. Many woman have successfully nursed adopted babies.

Years or even decades.

Adoptive mothers who have never breastfed are sometimes able to lactate just by allowing a baby to suckle. Men have also been known to lactate when the mother dies.

Even if suckling doesn't work there are herbs and prescription drugs that will help.

It needs the constant stimulation, my girl just had her baby, and she feeds him regulary. Try an electric breast pump.

I don't think so. Once the milk is dried up i think you can never get it back untill you get pregnant again. My sisters dried up and she couldn't breast feed later on when she decided to.

Shawna. =)
