It's normal to be afraid but having anxiety attacks means you need outside help. Talk to a therapist. Maybe you should get a pet, that way you won't be alone.

I know what you mean. It didn't bother me staying home till one bad thing happened to be about a month and a half ago and now it is scarring me for life. I wont stay home alone and if I have no choice, I make sure our security system is working (They really work because if someone breaks into your house, the cops are contacted immediatley), I locked all the doors, And no one can get in through our windows because they can't be opened by the outside. So I am not as scared.

I hope I helped.

Shawna. =)

no fear is baseless. You have this fear because of something that happened to you when you were young that made you afraid of something happening to your parents. The best thing to do would be to see a therapist and have them help you figure out the root of this fear.

I'm sorry you don't like to hear that, but why did you ask for advice if you were just going to tell everyone you don't have a problem in the first place? Denial isn't going to help you get over this....

So your fear is that your parents aren't going to come home? I think the best thing for you to do is talk to them. Tell them how anxious you get, and why. Then ask them if they will help you out by letting you know what time they will be home, and calling to let you know if they will be late. That should give you some peace of mind.

Get counseling. You may need medication for your anxiety attacks. I have friends with panic disorder and meds help.

Try the suggestions that the other answers provided. But if they don't work, get help. That's what it's there for.

im the same...turn on all the lights get a baseball bat next to you and listen to muic really loud or you can always call your friends and have all the lights on. never sit in the dark with no electricity on or you can invite a few friends over, thats the best thing to do and always make sure you ahve the phone next to you

I get that way as well sometimes if im home alone... I just turn all the lights on - talk to your friends on MSN or AIM - watch tv.. just dont sit there with nothing to occupy yourself...

Lock all your doors and put on a movie or watch a tv show to keep your mind of from wandering to all the different places.

Leave all your worries behind. Get yourself engaged in something that you really like doing and keep yourself occupied. Play games that you like (be it sports, online games, etc), or watch some movies to distract you. Don't think too much.
