Both are funny but I can stand Homer being fat but I cannot stand the Family Guy being obese. So I only watch the Simpsons.

Tough call. Family Guy is way out there and more up to date.
But I still love the Simpsons.

The simpsons has just been playing for too long. Their stories are getting repetitive and boring. Sometimes i can't even sit through an episode. Family Guy is still pretty funny. I like how they do the inserts every time someone tells a story.

For complete family enjoyment I would choose The Simpson's. The reason for that is despite what an oaf Homer is, and a trouble maker Bart can be, in the end they come together as a family unit. They don't deliberately do things that are cruel or profane.
I enjoy the Family Guy, but it's really not directed toward the family unit. There is crass humor and downright cruel intentions. Despite my own laughter, it's not intended for fun family animation in spite of the word "family" being inthe title. I hope that helps
