I'm fifteen, weigh 83 pounds, and am 5'1." I used to weigh 95 to 98 pounds last year, but then I started dieting and I've stopped menstruating and such. But I've been trying to eat regularly again, but I always fear gaining weight, even though I've been told that I have to. I was wondering, is cereal healthy? We have plenty, like Cinnamon Toast Crunch, Rice Krispies, and Honey Nut Cheerios, along with Chocolat Cap'n Crunch and Cocoa Pebbles and such, but I like to eat my cereal with a whole sliced banana. So, I do'nt know how much cereal is enough anymore, because I'm afraid it'll be too much but my parents will think it's too little. Do you ever measure your cereals and milk? I'm afraid my parents will get upset if I start doing it.

No. 1 bowl of cereal and 1 banana will not make you gain weight. And at 5'1", you are 22lbs underweight. So eat healthy and put on weight the healthy way. Your parents are right to worry about you. You need to get help for your delusions and fear of gaining weight.

You are worrying too much about your weight. 83 pounds, 15 and 5'1" ? honey, you're fine! It's not too common that people measure the cereals and milk, even if you're dieting. To stay healthy, don't eat less, just eat healthy and in moderation, and excercise more. Maybe you've heard that before, but it's true. I would change my breakfast to a healthier one - special k, fibre cereal, oatmeal, fruit, instead of making my breakfast smaller. Did you know that eating little or no breaklfast actually makes you gain weight? because breakfast is the most important meal of the day, it'll make you hungry and eat more the rest of the day if you eat a smaller than average size breakfast.
Hope it helps. >_<

I don't ever measure, no. I am 17 and weigh 111 pounds and am 5'7". It's not healthy to stop menstruating! The Cheerio's are probably the healthiest out of the cereals you mentioned. They help to lower cholesterol, if that makes a difference for you. Slicing a banana and putting it on your cereal is also good for your health, since bananas have potassium. And the milk is good for your bones! An alternative to cry cereal is hot cereal, like Oatmeal and Cream of Wheat and such, both of which are very good for you. On the box of dry cereal, it should tell you how much is one serving. I hope this helped! Also you can go to this site to see the healthy weight for your height and age!

I measure mine, but I need to. Just guestimate it. Put about 1/2 a regular sized bowl as a serving is usually around 1 cup of cereal and 1/2 milk. Be sure to eat the banana with it. That's great for you. Full of potassium.

it really depends on what cereal you're talking about since there's so many kinds out there. you wanna look on the label for these key features: low in saturated fat, low in sugar, and high in FIBER! as for measuring, i might do it a few times so you get an idea of how much a serving size should be. after that, you can just guess and eyeball it.
