not sure what you mean..

do you mean during the operation or to England or what?

if you mean for the operation itself,

look at the pictures of the bay that day.. there were some 10,000 ships siting there. pretty easy to imagine puting a few million troops on board.

Actually, the British and Canadians were doing what the Americans told them. The Americans were appointed in charge of Operation Overlord.

The Canadians also took only one beach while both the US and Britain took two. We didn't want to go too hard on them. They are a delicate people.

Troopships and liners were used to transport troops from the US to England. From there to Normandy they were transported in LST's and other troop carriers, then LSD's to the beaches Approximately 150,000 troops by all allied nations were involved.....not "millions".
