my heart goes to you, my friend. Diligently take your antibiotics n medication given by your GP. Drink plenty of fluid to flush out the bacteria, think positively and you'll be up and well in no time. Remember, personal hygiene is important.

A bladder infection is caused by bacterium. A yeast infection is caused by an over production of yeast. Most of the time the two are paired like peas and carrots (unfortunatly). Sorry to be the barrer of bad news but by you taking antibiotics, it could cause the yeast infection to worsten because the antibiotics kill off all the good bacteria in your body. This leaves you with a more severe case of a yeast infection. Take the antibiotics and also get some OTC yeast infection meds. If that doesn't clear it up you may need to consult with your doc to prescribe Diflucan to get rid of the yeast problem.

The over the counter yeast infection products, like Monostat, work well. Also, if your dr. has given you antibiotics for the bladder infection, there are some that will induce a yeast infection. I would suggest using a 7-day treatment. That's the most reliable and would take you through the majority of your antibiotic treatment. Good luck and I hope you feel better soon.

Hopefully your DR gave you antibiotics for the bladder infection. Unfortunately, antibiotics also increase risk of a yeast infection. You should call your dr and have him call you in a prescription to treat that as well. You can usually ask for this when you get the antibiotics from the dr since they are aware of this side effect. As a side note, antibiotics decrease the effectiveness of the pill, so if you are on it and having sex, make sure to use a back up like a condom.

Sometimes they just occur together, and sometimes one feels like both.
But usually it's the antibiotics that you take for the bladder infection. The antibiotics kill all the bacteria--including the "good" ones that keep yeast from overgrowing. So then the yeast can take over and you have another problem.

I've had both together and it sucks, I know. Make sure you're drinking as much water as possible, drink cranberry juice if you can.
If you're not staying hydrated, it can cause both problems. Also, if you're wearing tight jeans, synthetic (not cotton) underwear, thongs, or having a lot of intercourse, these are all factors that contribute to those problems. Tight clothing ans ynthetic fabrics trap moisture, letting yeast and bacteria multiply. Intercours can throw off the pH of your vagina and also push bacteria up into your urethra. So just be aware of your lifestyle habits.
Also, if you've had a cold and your immune system was compromised, it can throw everythign out of whack. There are so many reasons. It could just be a fluke and a one time thing, but like I sai dbe aware in cae it happens again, you know what you can try to modify to prevent it from recurring.
