I have a Pioneer DVD burner and want to add a Lacie DVD burner to my Windows XP computer.

I have one ribbon with 2 DVD connectors.

How should the two DVD burners be set up (master or slave) with the ribbon available to me?

Well, if you're just trying to get them to work, it shouldn't matter in which order they are connected.
However, if you're looking to get the best performance, the faster (usually the newer drive) should be your master.

It has nothing to do with the ribbon(cord). Actually your dvd drive would be having a slot next to the slot to attach the cord to dvd. It has normally eight pins and it have a small jumper. There will be jumper configuration given on your DVD Burner to make it master or slave. Use it to make one of your Burner master and other one slave.

Make the one that you will be doing most of your burning on the master. Make the other the slave.
