No one knows for sure. Something like 95 pct of silent films have been irretrievably lost, and that rate is almost certainly higher for pornographic films. The surviving Lumiere and Edison films from the '90s are all very decent and, by current standards, very dull. But surely some people with darker motives must have been able to obtain camera/projectors to produce godknowswhat.

We just don't have any record of their work, nor any surviving filmstock. All I can say for certain is that pornographic films were widespread (pun intended) by the '20s,
