When someone publicly makes slurs against ethnic groups such as the Poles, the Irish, or the French, for example, NOTHING is ever said about it. However, when someone makes unsavory remarks about blacks, Hispanics, Jews, or even Italians, those groups get bent out of shape, kick up a major fuss and demand apologies.
Why is it deemed politically correct to slur some groups, but not others????
Not that you should make slurs against anyone.

We Italians don't get bent out of shape about it. We've accomplished much in this country and still do--attributable to the fact that we ARE better than most of the birdbrained knuckleheads here.

You're right. One shouldn't make slurs about anyone but people still do it. It's like the horrific deeds of a few from a group lands suspicion and already made up minds about that culture. I'm not one to talk really because I have a big problem with muslims after losing two friends and a seriously injured friend to them in the war. I work with a muslim doctor who treats me with disrespect, so all my encounters with these people have been negative save one girl on here and she knows who she is. She is a very sweet girl but the men are awful.
If I saw a friendlier side of an Islamic man I might change my mind but it all culminates into this. The deeds of the few makes the whole group look bad to many people.

Because those groups are too proud and really have no more right to be offended than any other, but need to get a sense of humor...being of Irish decent I know what my ancestors went through when coming to this country; how they were treated, how many of us got sent off to die in the civil war...people acted as though we less than human just some dumb mic...persecuted by the English. I have never been offended by anything that anyone has said about the Irish or even worse my black irish decent...it is what it is get over it...the only reason they get offended it cause you're bringing up a stereotype that they know they are apart of otherwise if they aren't the stereotype they have no reason to be offended.

Because people try to be politically correct to the point where they are actually racist. I think its those group because they have gone through the most hardships. The French have a well develpoed country and despise everybody else anyways.

I dont agree with you. id say plenty of bashing and jokes about every group.
I think the Jewish might be most sensitive because one of the main points in the Temple is the support of Israel. That is really a sensitive issue I myself am Jewish and I think the Jewish American needs to become a true American. Too much emphasis on Israel. I dont like it. So there is this fear within the Jewish community that support will dwindle in the US and funds will be cut to Israel if too much bashing goes on.

No one should be making slurs against anyone and personally I haven't heard any more focus of one group over another other than slamming christians and jews....Americans and Isreali's.

It is not acceptable to bash ANY ethnic group. It is only the
people with low self-esteem that think it is "cute" to bash
someone of another culture. These people also bash
overweight persons/poor persons/alcoholics/homeless/
--actually, anyone that doesn't fit into their little superior
group. Some grow out of it--others never do.

I don't think anyone deemed it politically correct or acceptable. The groups you mention (Black, Jews, Hispanics) just get bashed more so we hear about it more.

Becuase all those in your example (French, Irish etc.) are white!
Ok just kidding.
If you made French jokes in front of someone french (or whatever) they'll undoubtly get upset as well. Its ok to joke around if its only for fun and when its with friends who share that kind of humour but in general it's still just as racist.
