Maybe metal hitting something really fast produced the spark.
perhaps the aim was so good that it just so happened to hit a nail causing a tiny spark which amazingly lit the whole thing...
i dunno it's a movie :D

well if it was a normal callibur, the force of the bullet wouldn't be strong enough to explode the barrel. You can get special bullets to do this, but they probavly did this to make the movie look cool.

so they can have a kraken a guy with an octopus beard and an undead monkey but shooting an explosive barrel and it somehow explodes nooooooooo thats where they went too far

It's a movie about curses and sea monsters. Don't expect it to be realistic. It's supposed to be entertainment not reality.
