The definition of stupidity is to attempt a previously unsuccesful method of doing something---and expect different results. You can test IQ, or EQ all you care to but where is the gauge for stupidity?

True.As you can see our world only repeats itself in violence.Genocide,Torture, and all the rest.Every one thinks they are in the "right".Nothing will ever change on a grand scale until Mankind understands that we are all from the same source. But therein lies the rub.Man will not , refuses to admit we are all the same.I believe Dante said that man's greatest downfall is Pride. As long as that is the case,Man is destined to repeat and repeat .The only thing I or you may be able to do is change ourselves. It always starts with the individual. Good quote!

I love Twain with all my heart. It's in our nature to screw up. We just can't help it. If it wasn't a screw up, we wouldn't mind the repetition of it. However, if I knew something bad was coming, just like it came before... I'd try to prevent it, even though it would be a waste of time, another bad thing which too probably happened before :)

Judging from world history, the man was correct. It seems to be ego and not intelligence that sets world events into motion. Be it a man, woman, or a plain citizen or president. We are all human beings and hormone driven. Be it hormones for fight or flight. For love or hate. We are ALL just animals, human animals yes, but just animals all the same. And you can not change nature.

Some people are so stubborn that even though it has been tried before and has failed they still keep on going. We are a stubborn people and Mr. Twain is just stating that.

The ignorance and pride of man will keep him from learning of his father's mistakes. Leaders only after power are blind and all the same, as long as they exist, past mistakes will become future ones. The same goes for obsessions.
