It may come about 28 days from January 16th. Count the 17th as day one.

Is your family full of short women? That is the only thing that will determine that. If it was your first period then you probably won't have a regular one yet. It may fluctuate. Usually it is every 28-35 days. That is about normal. And when you count, count from the FIRST day of your last period. So if you got it on Jan. 16th, and you had a 28 day cycle- it would show up on or about Feb. 13th. But as I said, expect it to change the first few months. You may not have another one for a couple of months. But when you do, keep track. It will help you in the long run if you ever have problems.

The average cycle is 28 days. But your body may have longer or shorter cycles than this, or be irregular. Especially at first, it may take awhile for you to become regular, so don't be alarmed if you skip a period now and then, or if they come earlier or later than expected.
I would be prepared to have another one 24 days or so after your first, just in case, it is always better to be prepared than get caught unprepared. At the same time, it may be a couple of months before you have another. Keep track of how many days apart they are and soon you will find your bodies rhythm. Pay attention to the changes in your body (bloating, breast pain, cramps, back ache, cravings), and you should get some warning when the next one will be.
As far as staying short, I've never heard of a correlation. But then, I got my period early (11), and am 5'1", so I guess for me that was the case!

It all depends. You can never really tell when you'll get your period next, when you first start. Usually girls periods are irregular for about a year. Mine was. After about a year it'll get on a regular cycle and come around the same time every month. For now, you may not get it for another 2 months, or you may get it next month, you can never tell. Just make sure you are always prepared, so you don't have any leaks or suprises! And no, you don't stay short if you get your period early. Goodluck! :)

When you first Start out you body is still getting used to changes and the time will vary so if you feel slightly moody or get "pre-cramps" have supplies with you on hand because it will take you by surprise at times.
Everyone is different but it can range in the beginning from 18-40 days (i was lucky and got it about every 40 days, while my best friend got it every 18), after time it evens out and comes about every 26-32 days.
And no, your height is based off of hereditary not off of your period

You may not necessarily get your period on the 16th of next month. You can use this online period predictor to give you an idea of when you might expect it
http://www.tampax.com/periodcalendar0.php
however, since it was your first period, you body might still be adjusting, meaning it may be up to two years before you get your period regularly.
Also, being short has NoThInG to do with you getting your period early/late/on time

If this is your first one, you won't really now how the rest of them will be until later on. If you're regular, you should have your periods at the same time each month. But if you're not regular, like me, you'll never know when you will have them. Mine come whenever they want to and last as long as they want to. I usually go months without one, but last month I had one and it lasted 3 weeks...now, less than a month later, I'm on it again and it's been over a week. So you won't know until it happens.

Getting your period on the same day each month really depends on wether you are regular or not. Some people have really irregular periods while others get it on the same exact day. About the staying short that's news to me. I never heard of such a thing.

Awww.....you do sound like a "cutie." You may get your period the same day next month, maybe a day or two before or after that date. I'm not entirely sure that you'll stay short, but it's possible. It is also possible that you won't though, I continued to grow after my first period.
