Why is it that when you tell people you're mixed they act like you are supposed to just choose a racial category, out of all the ones you're made up of? Race will be non-existent someday anyway, since the people hating one other will all kill each other off. Why do they want us involved in all this foolishness?

some people can't comprehend things unless it's in a category. You have the best of two worlds honey. Close minded people probably wish they could have been born something different anyways, i think. forget them. They won't make or break you.

My "handle" on almost every internet site, group, youtube,etc..is "dirtymutt". Strange because both my parents are whiteys. My great great great grandfather served under Nathan Bedford Forest in the Confederate army, Capt. Utley, so he possibly helped found the Ku Klux Klan. Anywho, there is no way to tell (without genetics) where my genetic makeup came from. I've heard of white men getting genetic tests done and finding out they are 50% black. So I figure I am made up of at least more than 3 or 4 "races" so therefore I am a "dirtymutt". This is actually the very 1st time I've explained it to anyone so feel privileged! Also, I'm not the religious type, but I feel that all of us share some common... "something"- if I felt like looking up a good word to put instead of "something" I wouldn't have......Im a lazy ni....nevermind!

I feel that racial identity is such a small part of a person that it should really be irrevelant. What matters most is character, experience, ethics, personality, likes and dislikes. What does it matter what color your skin is or the color of your eyes and hair? Just because others are foolish does not mean that you have to be. By the way, I have noticed recently on questionnaires that they now allow you to list multiple races instead of just choosing one.

I really appreciate your question. There was a time when one was of a particular race -- Caucasian, *******, Mongoloid or whatever. That has become a thing of the past now given globalisation in society. Inter-marriages are more common than ever and most people are mixed. I think being mixed gives one a much broader perspective and understanding of others and makes it easier to be tolerant, understanding and a whole human being. I am mixed, by the way. (Isn't that obvious?)

Because sometimes when you TELL people they think you are saying you have an issue with it like its a bad thing which it isnt. Also some people struggle with it to find a single national identity especially with two very diiferent cultures. I knew a black girl who was adopted by a white family in a white and Asian town and struggled to fit in. Was she black or was she white?

people involve in catergorising human beings on race and mixed races are fools and yes your views are right they will soon be outdated. Why because the wanderful invention of the airplane where people from all of the world can travel all over the world meet males and females of other cultures fall in love and have babies. I know lots of people from different cultures who fell in love and had children and there are lots of different commings togethers of cultures and a fusion of cultures and diversity and people who frown on this are old fashioned and biggoted and best keep their oppinions to themselves.

I could care less what race people are. I think that it is sad that nowadays people hate each other for just the color of their skin. I find nothing wrong with being mixed.

Tell them to get educated about their own race mixture and then to join you in the 'human race'!

Don't worry about what other people think. Love yourself and know that the only opinion that matters is yours.
