Everyone in the world, except possibly Americans, knows the Americans have an accent. In fact there are about four major accents in the USA and some minor ones. Canada has another two major accents and some minor ones. The UK has a different accent about every 15km.

French people have accents too when they are speaking French. A French speaker knows where a fellow French speaker is from by the accent. A French person speaking English is often recognisably French to an American and an American speaking French is recognisably American to a French person.

I'm sure they do. Depends on how well the american can speak french, or how well the french could speak English. I don't think it would matter which language they were communicating in, they both would think the other has an accent.

Of course they think we have an accent! I was born and raised in Chicago, and my friends from the South think I speak with an accent-go figure!

Because everybody grows up thinking they dont have the accent but everybody else, especially in Amercia where we mostly all talk the same. My Russian classmate continuouly denys that she has an accent and says we are the ones who have one.

Yea everyone sounds different there is no normal accent haha. You just dont know you have one because it seems normal to you.
