Everytime I try to download new software - I get an error - not enough room on the cdrive.

Click on Start, choose Control Panel, then Add/Remove programs, uninstall the programs you don't use. Download this free and safe program called CCleaner, it helps. Chow

If you use the Recycling Bin, make sure you empty it. Also, delete files from your temp location and your temporary internet files.
Also, I haven't used it, but you can try:
Start > All Programs > Accessories > SystemTools > Disk Cleanup

remove some program that you dont often use
the google CCleaner it is free, install it the use it
that's all

copy the files from your my documents folder to cd and delete them from hard disk.
