I was at a traffic light today, and looked over to see a car full of teenagers, and the DRIVER was smoking pot. I could NOT believe my eyes!! I honked the horn, they looked over, and I put my arms up to say "what the heck do you think you're doing?" They stuck their middle fingers up at me, the light turned green, and I wrote down the liscence plate number.

Is there anything I can do with that plate #? I would LOVE to go tell their parents, but I don't think there is a way to find out who the car belongs to just from the plate #. I'm not sure if the police would follow up on it either. I guess I should've called 911, but the last time I did (yes - I've seen this happen TWICE now) a follow-up call from the police proved unworthy.

SCARY that this is really happening huh? Drive safely!!

OX TOWN - Be quiet? If they killed a relative of yours, you would wish that I DIDN'T keep quiet.

peachie pie - I'm not 100% SURE that it was pot, but I've never seen anyone smoke regular tobacco from a bowl pipe. One would assume....

Genesis - Don't call people that you don't know 'sweetie'. Even if you're just trying to be nice, it sounds piggish.

Tangarin - I thought that you were calling some of the answerers on here 'idiots' (some REALLY are aren't they??) Then I realized you were talking about the kids in the car. Ha!

1. I don't (and never have)

2. You did the right thing by writing the plate number down.

3. Always call the police and tell them what you know in these situations.

4. Once you've reported it, it's out of your hands. It is THEIR responsibility to follow up on it, not yours (unless THEY ask YOU to do something). All you can do is be happy that you did the right thing.

5. People smoke pot, take drugs, drive drunk, yes it IS scary. All we can do is educate people not to do it, stop people we know from doing it and call the police when we see it happen.

Thats why I take public transportation, at least it's a larger target for all the lit up, cracked up nuts in the world, but just one question how DID YOU know it WAS POT? Did you smell it, or don't you know the way prices of regular squares are these days, pots a lot cheaper, and they might have had plain old tobacco in those rollups cause they couldn't AFFORD regulars!!

unfortunately, you cannot do anything, your word as a witness is not enough. There has to be an officer. however, you could put out a classified or an ad in the newspaper if you wanted, or you could, and I'm not accually saying this, report suspicious activity in an area where you know they are going to be. the police direct line is your best bet, though.

I don't smoke pot, but unfortunately I have friends that smoke several bowls while driving long distances...it's irresponsible if you ask me and yes, I would call the police directly(911 is for emergencies only) because it's a crime. Good luck!

The same thing happened to me. I was in the car with my dad and we looked over to see a bunch of guys in a car smoking weed. They all had their own and there was so much smoke coming from the windows. I wanted to call the police but my dad said it was useless.

You could always phone your local police station with the plate #, but unless they have evidence of their own, I doubt there's much they can do about it.
I know. A lot of users have the foolish notion pot actually makes them more alert (go figure) - Driving should be a privilege not a right. If it were up to me, idiots would have there licenses instantly torn up.

I don't smoke pot while walking either. I never use drugs. I would turn that plate number over to the police. I hope they don't wait until someone gets hurt or even killed.

Call the police and turn it in.If they do check the car they'll be able to find it pretty quick.
Ya you're right though about the police often not following up.Same bull here.

By all means call the cops and give them the plate number. You (we) have the right to safe highways, and that includes streets/roads free
of buzzed, drunk, high, or otherwise intoxicated or even just distracted drivers. I AM NOT dissing weed smokers here, just stupid, irresponsible ones!

I smoke weed, but I don't drive while high.....
Believe it or not, pot DOES affect the way you drive, if any you thumbs-downers are doing it!
