Sit in the drivers seat, and before you fire up the engine close your eyes and take a few deep breaths to focus yourself....... when you feel good to go, drive steadily at a pace you feel comfortable with while you try build your confidence back.
If that fails, try a few driving computer games, or these online driving simulators as a form of release:

Racing drivers have far bigger accidents than people have on the roads, yet are able to get themselves to drive again perfectly fine.
Like check out this one:

despite this 145mph+ crash, the driver (Martin Brundle) was back in the spare car for the restart 15 - 30mins later.

And if think that was bad, check out these two:

Think about it in a constructive way: What caused the accident? Were you at fault? If so, were you doing something that was distracting you from driving safely, something which you could avoid doing in the future? If you were not the perpetrator, then could you have prevented it by defensive driving? Was its cause weather-related, due to driving conditions which were treacherous? If your answer is "none of the above", was it a freak accident? In that case most likely it would never occur again. Driving is somewhat dangerous, and accidents happen to almost everyone, still, in most of our lives, driving is necessary. If you consider all of the ramifications of your accident, you will undoubtedly come to conclusions which will ease your mind and enable you to resume driving in the near future. Good luck!

Fall off a horse, get right back on. My 17 yr old had an accident last Friday at 4pm by the time the cops were done, etc., it was 5 and she looked at me and said how am I gonna get to work. I said 'you're car is driveable, get behind the wheel and get to work". That's how. Yes you can take it slow, but do it before you psych yourself out all together.

Take a few days off and get back in there. Dont let the bad feelings get you. When I first started driving, I had a head on collision that left my car useless and the guy that hit me was drunk, driving without a license, no insurance and he ran. I memorized his license plate and I had nightmares for months about it. The guy got caught and my insurance had to pay and they garnished his wages. That was 20 years ago. I feel Im a better driver for it. I learned to watch out for people out of control.

Good luck!!!

That happened to me after our car got hit really bad twice. I didn't want to drive and when I did I was so scared. I had to get out and keep driving to overcome my fears. It took alot of time and reassurance but now I get out and rive while being cautious.
