Would the United States be a better place if there was some type of test that people had to pass to be eligible to vote?

I mean seriously, it seems like so many of our problems arise from that the fact that most people are stupid. How can you expect to get good decisions from people who are for the most part ignorant and ill-informed about the basic facts?

Wouldn't it be better to let the smart people do the voting?

You should not be allowed to vote if you think Saddam was not a terrorists.
or
You should not be allowed to vote If you forgot that there was a 99-0 vote in Congress that gave Bush the authority to wage a war on terror including countries "that harbour, support or promote terrorism". Remember that Saddam cut a 15k check to every Palestinian family that sent their child out to blow themselves up on an Israel school bus. Is this not terrorism libs?

One might think that but when you look at IQ and education it's almost self selecting. People with less or lower education and lower IQ's vote proportionally less than people with higher educations and higher IQ's. This trend is also mirrored when it comes to wealth, the Rich tend to vote more than the Poor.

If you had to explain Darwin's theory of evolution and why it's a much more reasonable explanation of how things came to be than that God created the world by hand 4,000 years ago you'd eliminate 30% of the GOP voters.

And if you had to pass Econ 101 to vote you'd eliminate 99.99999% of Democrat voters.

No, this would lead into a big controversy. It would be like women not voting or blacks not voting. Just imagine going to a mildly mentally disabled person and saying they cant vote because they are not smart enough.

would it not be better to make a test to test what a babies IQ would be when the baby would turn 18 and if it were not high enough on the test just smash its little head with a hammer before it ever leaves the hospital....

No,no, no! People are grossly uninformed, not necessarily stupid. They are mostly lazy and tend to listen to their friends opinions instead of researching facts themselves. It would be smarter to encourage people to educate themselves concerning the candidates. Perhaps some of that campaign money could be spent on education instead of negative ads? I know.....never happen!

I do not disagree but there would be to many opportunity for abuse. On the other hand you would not have people like this poor soul going to the polls
