Everytime I play tennis, which is like once a month, I am sore for the next 3 days. Mostly my legs and right arm from serving I guess. Is this normal??

Yes,it's normal because what is happening is that you're working muscles that you don't normally work in other words you're tearing down muscle tissue that doesn't normally get torned down causing you to feel this soreness but don't worry because what your body does in response to this is to build the tissue back up stronger so the next time you play you don't get the soreness. But since you only play once a month that gives the muscle tissue enough time to atrophy(extra muscle tissue that was built up goes away) back down to where it was before so when you go back out in a month you feel all the soreness again. You're just basically repeating this cycle month after month. If you wanted to stop this cycle you would have to play more often to stop the muscle tissue from atrophying again. In other words if you don't use it you loose it.....Andre

Frankly, in a word, yes. You need to be doing regular exercise to stay in shape to play tennis or any other sport. To a degree, stretching will help deal with the soreness. Put the word "stretching" into a search engine and you should get some good information if you do not know how to stretch those areas properly.

If you are playing two hours of tennis once a month then yes you will be sore. The body is not made to sit around for a month and then exert that much energy. Our bodies need regular exercise to stay healthy. Once you become more active your body will not be as sore, if at all.

BTW benjamin, you sound like a dick. It's hard to answer that, It's a hard question, but your parents push you too much. Have you ever tried telling them that you do so much more than other people and you've had it, you can actually call the police or whatever and get them in trouble for child abuse, or maybe go see a family therapist. There isn't much you can do. maybe like talk to a tacher or student counceller about it? I feel bad for you, all I have to do is unstack the dishwasher every 2nd day and I get $80 a month :D My parents just tell me to do the best that I can do, and that's all they want(: I realyl wish you luck, dude. :D
