I've been playing guitar for some time now and I've just noticed my sweeps are pretty sloppy and I think I've figured out why...my picking is incorrect.

So can someone explain how I should sweep down and back when performing a sweep?

Thank you!

Angled.. Don't get the pick caught in the strings. It's doing what you said, sweeping the strings. Sweeping would be in one direction, usually downstroke. Hey. it takes time. .You can't play guitar in a weekend anymore than Me playing golf like Tiger Woods in a weekend. I've been playing guitar 40 yrs. There are some great sites for sweep picking. My 14 yr. old is pretty good at it.. I play more jazz and use it when playing through arpeggio's or fast lines
