Well, I would say not more than 1 glass this time only. If you are pregnant though any amount can potentially affect the baby. I would find out ASAP if you are pregnant so you can then discontinue drinking.

A glass. Go for it.
"The Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists recently conducted a large study including 400,000 American women, all of whom had consumed alcohol during pregnancy. Not a single case of fetal alcohol syndrome occurred and no adverse effects on children were found when consumption was under 8.5 drinks per week. 3
A recent review of research studies found that fetal alcohol syndrome only occurs among alcoholics. The evidence is clear that there is no apparent risk to a child when the pregnant woman consumes no more than one drink per day. 4"

"Lipp and Whitten, whose "To Your Health" was published in 1995, are among an increasing number of doctors and researchers who feel that pregnant women have no reason to fear drinking a glass of wine every day. As revealed by contributing editor Thomas Matthews in the August 31, 1994 issue of the "Wine Spectator" magazine which was devoted largely to this controversy, "there is even new research that shows that moderate drinking during pregnancy may actually help the development of the child after birth." I don't understand if ur pregnant why you would even want to chance it? I did EVERYTHING I was supposed to do when I found out I was pregnant. Even stopped drinking caffeine (cold turkey) and I miscarried Wed. @ 8 weeks so I have to be honest your post kinda ticks me off! I don't understand why u can't put aside the wine for 9 months? Why chance it?

Drinking alcohol during pregnancy can cause low birth weight, an alcoholic baby who will go into DT's if you drink more then two glasses, four times a night. I would not sip a glass. But please don't over do it. It makes those babies hurt.
I see alot of people say don't drink. They are right you know this. Get a first response pregnancy test it tells you 5 days before your period that you are or are not pregnant.
Life's hard, cold truth

No one knows the true effects on alcohol and pregnancy -and it's probably different for every woman because no one metabolizes alcohol in the same way. It does enter your blood stream, so the baby is affected, even the smallest amounts. Since it's impossible to identify a safe dose, abstinence is advised by experts at the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists and the American Academy of Pediatrics.
Some Dr's may OK it later in the 2nd and 3rd trimesters as a way to relax, but never more than one glass a week WITH food and NEVER in the first trimester. When you drink, the alcohol quickly travels through your bloodstream to your baby. Your baby may end up with higher levels of blood alcohol than you have.
Drinking endangers your growing baby in a number of ways: It increases the risk of miscarriage and stillbirth. As little as one drink a day can increase the odds for low birth weight and raise your child's risk for problems with learning, speech, attention span, language, and hyperactivity. And some research has shown that expectant moms who have as little as one drink per week are more likely than nondrinkers to have children who later exhibit aggressive and delinquent behavior.
The most severe result of alcohol use is fetal alcohol syndrome (FAS), a permanent condition characterized by poor growth, abnormal facial features, and damage to the central nervous system. Babies with FAS grow poorly in the womb or after birth, or both. In addition to abnormal facial features, they may have abnormally small heads and brains; heart, spine, and other anatomical defects. The central nervous system damage may include mental retardation, delays in physical development, vision and hearing problems, and a variety of behavioral problems.
I personally value my unborn child more than any glass of wine (or alcoholic drink) and would rather play it safe with other ways of relaxation other than something so selfish as consuming alcohol while pregnant. So ask yourself, is the risk of harming your unborn child worth it to you? Would you give your newborn child alcohol in its bottle?

Drinking wine won't cause you to miscarry. If you are going to miscarry, there's nothing you can do to change it, it's pre-determined. Experts don't know how much alcohol is okay to drink while pregnant. A small amount PROBABLY won't hurt, but you never know. It's up to you. I know I had a couple drinks with all three of my pregnancies before I knew I was pregnant, and my kids are fine, but each case is different.

You shouldn't be drinking even when you are "trying" to get pregnant. Have juice.
