proof that it is not. As well, why else would we want businesses other than deriving a living out of them

I too think the minimum wage should be raised. But as for our opposition, they feel that increases in minimum wage would put too much of a strain on middle class business owners. Also, and more importantly, may people feel that with in increased minimum wage American companies wont be able to compete with companies that have no respect for workers rights, like China. I mean look what happened to Ford just because they are nice enough to give their people healthcare and decent wages.

Hmmm...why would we want businesses other than deriving a living out of them??.......maybe to provide a needed product or service in the community??

I have thousands of MY hard earned dollars invested in the small business I operate. It provides 4 full time jobs, none of them pay minimum wage. So the new law doesn't affect my business, right? WRONG!!

My folks work hard, & I pay them well for their efforts. However if people w no skills are having their wages bumped up a few dollars, my employees feel they deserve a raise of equal proportion

The only way I can do that is to require more production (no guarantees), raise prices (not my power, insurance rates), or cut profits......

Which so many are quick to say, "yeah, cut profits you greedy business owner!!" Except the profits, now that the business generates one, is what I have left over to pay for my efforts in the business.

A business that generates no profit is by definition not a business!! If my profit gets much smaller my intelligent option is to close the office. I could then work for a bigger company & earn more w NO RISK!! But then 4 good paying jobs are taken from my community.

The info in polls is very limited. I have been a member of our city;s chamber of commerce over 20 years & I can tell you more truth than what pollls & surveys report.

Why not raise it to $10? That's still only $20K annually, not really enough to exist on w any dignity..

I guess I'm "old school", but if the income isn't enough...either work into a better job, or take a 2nd job. And if the community is that short of good jobs......MOVE!!

It IS bad; some businesses wouldn't be able to afford it, if the minimum wage went up to, say, $9.00, as I have heard that it was supposed to, and it would price them out of the market. The government isn't supposed to make it impossible for the small businessman, and you'd think they wouldn't, now that the Democrats, who claim to be the champion of the little guy, both the worker and the small businessman, are in charge.
