My steady contractions were the first sign of labor for me. After arriving at the hospital, I lost my mucus plug and my water broke within minutes of each other.

I started crying a lot the night before I went into labor - and everything was setting me off! I also "dropped" a few hours before feeling the first contraction. Believe it or not, another "sign" of labor is going #2 a lot (TMI, but it's true!).

I went in for an appointment when i was 42 weeks to be induced. They checked my cervix and i was already 3 cent. To me the contractions were really nothing but slight cramping. I have a high tolerance for pain and had a drug free labor.

Its not like this for everyone and i consider myself lucky for being able to have a Natural labor.

well i was induced at 41 weeks but i think the following are signs:
mucous plug (show), waters breaking, pre labour is feeling premenstrual, regular contractions lasting at least 60secs from start of one till the start of next contractions with first bub they say go to hosp when contractions are lasting 60-90 secs and no less than 5 mins apart. keep mobile and will speed things along! good luck!

With my first born, my water broke. It was a very slow leak that I just managed with a towel as it was in November and very cold outside.
My second was alot of pressure and irregular contractions. After about 8 hours of no progress they had to break my water. I was also a week overdue with the second child.

I was exactly 40 weeks and my water broke! I had no contractions but was still in labor. They had to give me pitocin to sped things up.

My water broke. The signs would be contractions that continue to get more consistent and more painful.
