Yes, they will crack it there is a stress mark on the edge. Just like any stone they are brittle and the crack once started progresses due to thermal changes
I got those thing in my house, replace formica. A BIG MISTAKE. Sure they show people you got money to waste but they are plain NO GOOD. Those thing Absorb Grease, mark from round wet pans, Im disgusted with the things. Granite is no good for this application. Formica was and still is the answer.
And you got to seal those darn things with silicone like once an month. That costs another $35 a quart.

Granite counter tops are excellent, they are backed with plywood and are very stable. I had problems with spotting in one house I had, and could not get it sealed. I just rubbed in mineral oil and it evened everything out--no more maintenance.

They could probably crack under the weight of a Mac Truck. So don't let yo mama sit on one, cuz she's just that FAT!!
Actually I have no idea. but probably would take a lot more than yo mama.

weight or pressure is not the problem. It is natural unseen cracks in the slab, or settling in your house, or something being dropped on it, etc.
