Hey, congrats that you are getting ready to celebrate your 16th birthday!
I'm not from the Denver area, so can't give you any advice on a venue or band.
But, when I read your question, I immediately wondered why everyone needs a huge party to celebrate their 16th birthday. Sure, it's your day, and you should enjoy it. But, you could enjoy it with a few of your closest friends, and not spend much money at all, and still have memories to last a life time.
No matter how you spend your birthday, I hope it is a great one!

Do you have any relatives that live in a warm place at this time of year -- like Arizona (not too far from Colorado) AND they have a nice spread out in the country. Rent a bus and bus your guests there and invite some rock band on My Space to attend if they're willing to play.

First look for a community center. Believe it or not, there are also some churches who just might be willing to rent out their basement for an evening, as long as you were willing to abide by their guidelines. Most major hotels usually have conference and/or meetings rooms that are also used for private parties. Most major cities have local papers that are devoted strictly to the night life in the area and they advertise local bands. You could also place an ad in a paper such as that specifying all your needs for your party. Have a great time!

i dont know about the venue but if you need a band you should talk to the american federation of musicians. i dont tknow for sure if they will have the kind of band you are looking for. most of the time you can find a band that can accomidate the price range you are after but it will be on a contract and it may cost a little more than if you just asked around at your highschool

throw a birthday party. you could also get a fake id and go out to a bar, it doesn't matter if you look good or not, because drunk people won't be selective and you can always threaten to tattle-tale on them (black mail) and use the money to pay for your fake id. (i noticed your budget isn't too big). also, it might be cheaper just to buy a cd, unless you meet a band in a bar and they're drunk too. you can get a short skirt and underwear at good-will, and try to take it back when you're done

Get your party in your house. If you have a big garden, maybe you have to put anything there such as table, your band maybe if you have, food, drink, design your garden and call your friends but if your house is big maybe it can hold 200 people. Invite not just your friends you can call your family or your teacher and maybe a priest.
