25 minutes. This is a technically a lie, although I love Arlo Guthrie very much. The song lasts 18 minutes and 20 seconds, occupying the entire A side of Guthrie's 1967 debut record album. Of course, there is a new version recorded by him in 1996. It has a few new jokes in it (it's even longer than the original at 22 min 26 sec.)

"If you want to end war and stuff you got to sing loud.
I've been singing this song now for twenty five minutes. I could sing it for another twenty five minutes. I'm not proud... or tired.

So we'll wait till it comes around again, and this time with four part harmony and feeling.

We're just waitin' for it to come around is what we're doing."

All right now.

I think he said about twenty minutes. Gotta wait for it to come around again.

Good ole Arlo!
