I sometimes answer the er line for children overseas on trips. I had one woman calling because her daughter had only packed *ONE* sweater and was embarrassed because the weather was cold and had to wear it for three whole days. She wouldn't take "im sorry this isn't an er" and to call back for an answer, and said she was going to sue me (yes me, the operator) funny stuff.

Hmm.. some woman came up to me. She was overcharged 17 cents on her salmon steaks. Since I had a very long line behind her, I apologized, handed her 17 cents, hoping the woman would be on her way. Oh no. She didn't want her 17 cents back. She wanted to know *why* she was overcharged. She insisted on speaking with the seafood dept manager, who refused to come up there for this trivial little thing, so she insists that I call my store manager, and explain to him that *I* am overcharging everyone who is buying salmons steaks. The woman was a nightmare. This was almost ten years ago and I still remember her.

My story is from the customers side in observing what someone in customer service did:

At one time after the Christmas Holiday madness I went to a Department store to check out their pants and shirt dept.
While there a I noticed a really nice ski jacket on the rack.

The price tag was missing and I really liked this particular one(there were no others like it there).

At that point I had to go up to the customer service counter in order to find out what the price would be.
It was relatively late so there was no one being serviced at the time that I arrived at the counter.
At first I didn't think that anyone was there but all of a sudden a "can I help you" came out from behind this huge pile of returned clothes!
When I reported that I wanted to buy this particular coat and would like a price for it the lady tried to figure out what to charge for it by looking in an indexed book of clothing items.

Having sensed her frustration with regards to the mountain of garments that she had to work through I was about ready to tell her to forget about it, when she whipped around and blirted out " Honey this is your lucky night !" Next thing I knew she had put a price tag on it for $15.00 and told me that I could pay for it there.

Man I was whistling all the way out of the store with a great deal and I wasn't even stealing it -so to speak !

I later saw the same jacket going for $335.00 somewhere else.

I don't work in customer service. But having used customer service for various things, I'm frustrated every time I call an American company and get a customer service rep that is on the other side of the world and can't barely speak any English.

I worked at a Steak n Shake on 3rd shift for 8 years.... I once saw a 16 year old girl get mad at a 60 something year old lady sitting across the dining room from her for something she though she heard her say. The 16 year old walked over and hit the lady with her purse and the lady then launched a glass ketchup bottle at the 16 year old's head. It hit her, bounced off and broke all over the floor, and the 16 year old had a huge red spot on her forehead. They all took off before the police could get there. I thought the whole thing was hilarious!!!

Was assistant store manager. Customer wanted to return a snow blower that was 6 years old and commercially used. Denied refund. Tried to work with him but he just kept getting angier.

And he said to me..... "If you were a man, I'd deck ya!!!"

Tried to calm him down, he only got worse. Got verbally violent and out of control. Had to finally call the police to have him removed from the store.

Was waiting for the ****** to really hit me.

As shift manager of a restaurant, I took a complaint phone call from a customer. The lady on the line said, "Sir, my hamburger is cold and the bun isn't toasted."

In my calmest tone, I simply presented the truth to her: "Ma'am, I'm sorry that your hamburger didn't meet the quality expectations, but unfortunately we don't sell hamburgers."

My coworkers and I had a good laugh about it after I hung up... we really didn't sell hamburgers! She had looked up the wrong number.

It is so hard to just chose one..

I suppose we will go with the most recent, I was beat up by an old man. I work in a store that mostly sells software and due to copyright laws we can only exchange for the same title. WE often get a lot of people attempting returns, however it is illegal. Unfortunately this point is lost on about 99% of our customers.

ON this particular day a man wanted to exchange a $4 graphics pack because he didn't like the drawings, upon explaining the policy to him he got very angry and threw the CD at me. The CD and case ended up breaking in transit. Then as if I was a complete idiot he proceeded to tell me that the CD was broken when he bought it and was demanding a return. I was getting a little frustrated at this point an enacted my (you throw it at me it's mine rule) and asked him to leave.

He was having non of this, he grabbed part of a rack and proceeded to throw it at me. At this point I did call th police and again asked him to leave. Still not being the brightest crayon n the box the man proceeded to come around the side of the counter. He picked up a recycling box we use to collect old cell phones and threw that at me. now with cell phone all over the floor a couple racks and a busted CD, he tries to take a swing at me, at that point a put the chair in front of me, he rant into and ended up tumbling over after tripping on what I am sure was one of the many cell phones now spilled on the floor.

He then proceeded to scream at the top of his lungs that I was assaulting him. At this point a small crowd starts to gather, I am standing stunned behind the counter as this man carries on like I have just stabbed him.

After about a minute of that the police enter to find a man lying amounts a sea of cell phones in an area where he should not be screaming that I was beating him.

Needless to say he attempted to have me charged with assault, this lasted all of about 5 minutes as like any responsible retailer we record everything. Not to mention I had gathered about 20 witnesses to me standing around stunned with a man screaming on the floor. He was in turn charged with assault, as well as mischief. The store has also taken out a restraining order that covers all of the locations.

As a prologue he is pursuing a civil case stating the he sustained injuries after tripping over the cell phones that we spilled after throwing the box at me.

Have I also mentioned that he has returned tot he store twice since then which has resulted in charges of trespass both times. Yes all this for a $4 piece of software.

The craziest thing that ever happened to me was when I was working as a store clerk. I had a guy offer me money to take my bra off and give it to him. I politely declined but looking back I should have taken his money. I could have always bought another bra and I was wearing a smock so noone would have known I was braless.

WOW WHERE DO I START.....and i was only working in a toystore!

Caught a girl shoplifting told my boss before she left the store. He approached her then after alot of denying something fell from her jacket. She tried to run past him but he stopped her. (she would have been in her 20's)

She then took a can of spraypaint from her jacket pocket and sprayed my boss from head to toe.

My boss still hadnt given up so she took a bike chain-lock and started swinging it at him......she got away.

Also had a guy barricade us and customers in the shop because we wouldnt give him a refund. told me hed punch me out if i didnt give in. He left when he realized we were calling the cops.
