Not only is George W. Bush not a Texan, he's afraid of horses! Bush bought his ranch in Texas only months before the 2000 election purely as a political expedient. He's from New England, for cripes sakes!

LBJ was largely stuck by Kennedy. Kennedy is the one who first expanded our commitment to Vietnam, (from roughly 50 to 2,500) and set in motion what eventually happened. LBJ also recieved bad advice from people who were essentially Kennedy advisors.
There is NO defense for Bush. The only thing I will say is that I also blame the media and Democrats for not challenging this 4 years ago when it might have made a difference.

L.B.J. was a good man, if it was not for the war he would have gone down in history as one of the best presidents ever. The war was not entirely his fault anyways, he came in and took some irrational steps.
