Well, it depends on just how you define "city". If it has to be something the size of Dallas, where I grew up, yeah, I'd be nervous about it since I lived in an exclusive residential area, and I lived in a two story house. If it were smaller populated town that some really rural folk still call a "city", well, I'd still be a bit worried, but not as much, but I'd still look to see what it was I was hearing and be ready to call the cops as necessary. Well if I was on the second floor then yeah I might. We live in the country and we have neighbors not too far who have horses so I don't think that it would bother me.

I think I would. There is this story of a horse drawn carriage. It is said that if you here the horses coming and you peek to see, the next day you die. That's an old folk tale, but no one has ever live to say if its real.

No, our city has mounted police. We also have a great (by dying)tradition of "arabers" - men with horse drawn carts laden with produce going up & down the city streets, yelling "Straaaaaaaawwberries!" One of my fondest memories from childhood! They always let you pet the horses, too!
