Depending on how far you want to regress; the camels ancestors are from North America. It is thought that one branch migrated to S. America and the other to Asia via Alaska-Siberia connection. Bactrian are larger 2 humpers and from the Gobi Dessert area. The Dromedaries with a single hump are found in North Africa.
