ok i don't know how to do any part of my science fair! it is way to confusing! my question is:::: After consuming caffenie how does the pulse and body temperture vary from child to adult? OK i need to know what the Independant variable is, how to mesure it and the units of measurments. Then I need the Dependant variable i neeed to know what the dependant variable is , how to mesaure it, and the units of mesurments? Then i need the science concept your project deals with? Please someone help me, this is only my 2nd time doing it and the first time i got a bad grade on it! Ok after that if you can give me a couple of book names or websites i can visit to get information on this project, that will be much appresiated...THANK YOU!!

The independent variable is the one you control. In this case, it could be the amount of caffeine and/or the age of the people you test.

The dependent variable is what you measure for the result. In your case it's the body temperature. Probably you want the change in body temperature before and after consuming caffeine.

So, for example, you could plot peoples age on the X axis and the change in body temperature on the Y axis. You will have a plot that may or may not show a trend. If the dots are scattered, then you cannot disprove the null hypothesis which is that age has no effect. If there is a trend to the line then you can conclude that there is an effect and what direction it takes.

Be careful to control as many variables as possible. Have your subjects all take the same amount of caffeine. (Perhaps you could scale the amount by body wight because older people may weigh more) Make sure you measure temperature at the same time after taking caffeine, etc.
