I have a 1999 Mercedes E320 4Matic Wagon. After changing the air filter, the car seems to be running rich. Is there a way to reset the adaptation values on the PCM by myself?

It should adjust automatically. The problem may be with your air mass sensor or oxygen sensor. I don't think clearing the codes will help you. The fastest way to get to the root of the problem is to go to a Merc dealer and have them read the codes for you.

You can cause the ECU to completely reset by disconnecting the battery for a few minutes. But be aware on that on the Merc, you will need to reset the radio code, radio presets, and the window controllers when you do this. The radio code should be on a card supplied with the owners manual. To reset the windows, lower them fully. Then work them up to the full up position by hitting the button repeatedly (you'll only be able to move them up a 1/2 inch at a time). When the window is at the top of the channel, push the button forward as if to raise the window, and hold it for five seconds. You have to do this for each window and the sunroof.

Pull the PCM fuse or relay out for 5 minutes.

No and if you could you shouldn't. Are you sure yo got the right air filter? One would think with a new air filter this wouldn't be the case. Hhhhuuumm!!???
