What about emile durkheim? do you mean his study on suicide? well, he is one of the founding fathers of sociology who belonged to the school of "structural" and macrolevel sociology like Comte and Spencer. His famous study is on suicide, wherein, through quantitative study, he explained the very personal and idiosyncratic phenomenon of suicide and theorized that most often than not, the following have the tendency to commit suicide than their counterpart: Male (v. Female); Single (v. Married); etc.
