Yes, hormones are going nuts. Its just cool to leave her be. Offer support quietly, like a stack of books / magazines, dinner out, ask her how she's feeling. BUT don't "hang" around her. Giver her space or you might have a space for rent sign in your home!

Good Luck!

If the only issue you have with your girlfriend's mood swings is that she is a little distant, please thank whatever deity you believe in.

Mood swings during pregnancy can cause irrational anger, sadness, depression, emotional distance, extreme happiness, and a variety of other emotions.

It is important to remember that, especially if this is her first pregnancy, your girlfriend is experiencing hormones running through her body that she has never had to cope with before. There may be times when she simply wants you to hold her, refusing to let you leave the room, and other times when your mere presence makes her completely insane.

Please try to understand her emotions, and be accepting of the times she needs you, and the times she simply needs to be alone. Offer to talk with her if she needs an ear, or to just be there if that's what she needs. Help her to understand that her emotions are normal. She may need to talk with her OB-GYN about her emotions, as extreme hormonal upsets during pregnancy can lead to bouts of post partum depression after the baby comes.

Most importantly, be supportive of her, and if depression, distance, or disinterest continue after the birth, please help her see professional help.

Good Luck!

Many things can cause your girlfriend to be distant during pregnancy. How is your relationship? Did you plan the baby? Are you both ready for a baby? All you can do is show her how much you care and try to be as understanding as possible. Couples therapy couldn't hurt either.

Hun, she has got a multitude of changes happening right now, from hormones to physical to mental and emotional. Just be supportive and let her know you are there if she needs you. Dont pressure her, and see if she comes around.
If you think its more severe than just a little distance, there is such a thing as pregnancy depression and it can be pretty bad.
Try to do some research on it on the internet. See if her symptoms match and if so, then tell her about it, and tell her to contact her physician.
It can be minor or major. Just dont outrule anything to be safe.
Congrats on the baby and good luck
