I have little black bugs that are continually harrassing my plants. They really like water sources ending up in my coffee, contact lenses and anywhere there is food. I was told they might be fungus gnats and to tape yellow post-its on pencils and put them in my plants. Is this true? If not, how do I erradicate them? I don't want to use pesticides.

sounds like you have fruit flies. you can try using bay leaves, penny royal, eucalyptus, or cloves in a muslin bay and hang around the areas the flies are.

there is a grass called citronella grass that will lure the fruit flies into a glue coated trap.

you could also crush 1 cup of a grain called finger millet and place the powder in 1 quart of warm water in a spray bottle and spray your plants to repel the flies.

make sure you keep your sink area clean and free of dirty dishes cause this will attract them too, and if you have a garbage disposal once every 2 weeks grind up lemon and orange peels to help deodorize it.
