I can get a roundtrip from fort lauderdale to richmond va for 110 dollars on northwest, but if I fly from Virginia to fort lauderdale, it's almost 300 dollars. That doesn't seem fair? And all the airlines do it...?

The reason why it costs more for you to fly from virginia to florida than from florida to virginia is because of consumer demands. More people go to florida than virginia...which makes it cost more to fly there. Just think about it....Disney world and the fact that ALOT of people go there for spring break makes it easier for the airlines to charge more money to go there. Florida has more people buying tickets to go there so the airlines charge more so they can make more money.

Go to Farecompare.com, great deals or Obitz.com. If you are a student check the airline website for student fares. Or Airtran.com has a deal for people under 23, you fly standby and get great cheap rates. Or simply bid for $110 at priceline.com read the notice and see if it is standby... if you are willing to go late red-eyes you can get cheap fares. Hope this helps.

Supply and demand. NOBODY in Florida wants to go to Virginia, so they have to lower the price to fill those planes.
