maybe bring a friends snake home for a visit,a teeny tiny one,so she can see how cute the little ones are or you could just do what my 17 year old daughter did just bring one home and say see mom i got a snake....no no really don't do that your mom will get mad,i don't know what to tell you except just do what most kids do drive her nuts about it until she gives in,show her you are really determined to have a snake, start living and breathing snakes, over load the family room with articles, magazines and books on reptiles leave them lying all about the house where she will find them, paste snake pictures all over your room, you could always take it to another extreme and act like a snake refuse all dinner unless it is a frozen thawed mouse or even better live mouse, elongate all your ssssss when you speak, flick your toung in and out, just generally drive your mom crazy till she says yes

NEVER BUY AN IGUANA UNLESS ALL PEOPLE IN YOUR HOUSE ARE WILLING TO CARE FOR IT! That was the worst advice I have read! I was going to tell you to tell your mom, "Well, at least I dont want a 7 foot long iguana that has to eat all our food" and yet someone had the ignorance to tell a kid(you live with your parents, so I assume you are between 1 and 18....) to get an iguana! They are mean(most the time), they eat a lot, males are hyper-agressive during breeding season, they can hurt a full grown man, just imagine what they would do to you! Sure, they're adorable, sure I have one, but that was a mistake and I wish I hadn't. Take it from me: Iggy+child= dead pet OR pet that ends up in a shelter.....
no offense. However, on the argument of you wanting a snake... I would tell her that it will give you responsibility for something other than yourself. It will be your little baby.... or something. Also, stress on the pet thing. Lots of mothers are compelled to give into that. If you still dont win, suck it up and get one when you move out so she never comes to your house lol
sorry for the rant.... i apologize.

Good luck!
I wanted one for 7 years and never got one...but my parents didn't much care for any animals in the house at all...not even an aquarium. So when they visit, I let my Alaskan Malamutes jump all over them and I saw...boy, you were right. They sure don't belong inside. :P
Looking back though...
1.Pay for the entire cage, snake, upkeep and food yourself.
2.Study how to properly take care of it by reading books on the kingsnake.
3.Make it so your mom never has to look at the snake.
4. Make sure it never gets out.
Some people are deathly afraid of snakes...I mean they have heart palpatations, could faint etc. they are THAT afraid. Have your mom clarify 'scared', 'terrified', or just really doesn't like to look at them and would never want to hold one.
Also while you are studying up on snakes, continue asking. Make sure she knows that you are serious about it, and prove that you are serious about it. You are asking to take on the responsibility of another life for 20 years. It is a commitment, make sure you are prepared for it. If you are serious enough to do all these things...she couldn't say no.

you could say if she doesnt alow you to have a snake, you will buy one anyways and then make it attack her, even though kingsnakes are harmless. just kidding. you could make her feel guilty. you could ask her if she had pets as a kid, and if she did, then ask why you cant have one. you could say it is harmless and actually has pretty colors on it. also you could say she wont have to always stare at it, it can stay in your room and she wont ever have to deal with it, and then ask what the problem would be with that. You could also say all your buddies on yahoo answers say snakes are fine and that she is being unfair and everyone on yahoo answers likes snakes and supports you with your desire for a pet snake

Listen Iam not your mother and even I say no snake. Get your mind on another pet. Heavens know there are a lot out there. What if you were frightened of something and someone kept wanting to bring it to you. Think about it.

Maybe you could go with an inbetween??? I mean, e.g. an iguana. It is still a reptile, yet cute enough for your mom to get to like him. Plus, they don't stink and are vegetarians, so you don't have to worry about your mom getting grossed out by feeding it mice...

Get on you knees and beg. Give her a gift, cook her a meal. Act loving. Tell her it\'s harmless and will help her get over her fear and will be kept in the cage at all times.
