For months my mom and I have been planning for me to stay at her house right after my baby is born. My husband and I seem to have miscommunicated because he doesn't want to stay there at all and he seems to have no knowledge of me ever talking about it. We are currently living with his mom (which is horrible). So, now I have to tell her that we won't be staying with her and I'm not quite sure how to.

Explain how you should take the baby home to where it's going to live.
It needs to get used to its surroundings.

Take your mum out to dinner or cook one and just brake it to her gently that you have a baby on the way a husband and you want to start a new life in your own house so its not so crowed but tell her she can visit anytime she wants if it hurts her that your not staying just give her a big cuddle she will be OK.Just involve her as much as you can.

If she is a mature adult, she will understand.Explain to her that you appreciate all of her help & that its been great staying w/her but when the baby is born,it's time that you and her husband move out to start your own little family.

Does your mom need you to be there or do you need to be there for your mom's help? What alternatives do you have?

It will be important, assuming your husband is a good man, to put him and his wishes first above your mother's wishes - but not above yours and the baby's needs.

If you are clear that this is good for you and your new family, you simply say "Mom, Hubby and I have talked it over and we are going to live xxxx."

Good luck.

I'm sure your mother would understand that you need to move when you have your baby.but do reassure her that you want her to still be close by to see her grandchild as much as she wants.

all the best with new baby.
