If you see an owl, death is coming,

Also a big Black dog is the devil in disguise following you to your doom.

Witches are evil and can turn their bodies into balls of fire. (that one is way out there)

If you are in a state of sort of sleeping but can't move or talk and think evil things are watching you it's demons (this one I don't believe since its sleep paralysis)

One superstition that I still carry is to never let a cat look into a mirror, as it will bring bad luck. Another superstition I follow is to hold your breath and count to ten if you have the hiccups.

OK, this is not quite since I was a kid, kid, more since I was 14. I have to wear the same Hat all cricket season. This season has been a shocker, I've worn three different hats!
Silly I know, but former Australian Cricket Captain, Steve Waugh, had a similar thing about a red handkerchief, which looked rather ratty by the end of his career.

A black cat crossing your path is bad luck.

Breaking a mirror brings 7 yrs of bad luck.

Used to think walking under a ladder was bad luck until I became a firefighter!

Opening an umbrella indoors is bad luck.

Always hang a horse shoe with the ends pointing up so the good luck doesn't pour out.

Black cats are good luck in my house, we spill salt on purpose as it is purifyingd and protective, broken mirrors hang on my doorways to refract and repel negativity, 13 is a sacred number, Friday the 13th is an especially holy day, a broom falling means company's coming, a ring around the moon means trouble not far behind, blowing out candles is bad luck....snuffing them is proper, and last but not least an itchy palm means money's on it's way!

If you break a mirror you will get 7 years bad luck! I really didn't believe it but one day running across the road to catch a bus a mirror went flying out of my purse and smash in the middle of the intersection. What followed was the worst 7 years of my life, you wouldn't believe how crap it was!! Bad luck was my middle name, just couldn't catch a break. Then just like that, after 7 years, my life became "normal" again.

A superstition that I carry with me is for spilled salt. If you spill some salt you must take the salt with your right hand and throw it over your left shoulder for good luck.

It's odd to say that I've broken your superstition before...

Never break a mirror. That's about my only one.

I gave up on mythology/superstition as a child, and relized early on when I picked up my older stepbrother's schoolbooks, that religion is just a poor excuse for modern day mythology.
