Gangland shooting in 1929 on February 14 between two powerful criminal gangs in Chicago, the South Side Italian gang led by Al "Scarface" Capone and the North Side Irish/German gang led by George 'Bugs' Moran.
7 members of George 'Bugs' Moran's gang were lined up against the rear inside wall of the garage of the S-M-C Cartage Company in the Lincoln Park neighborhood of Chicago's North Side and shot dead by five members of Al Capone's gang.

Originally it referred to the a bloody slaying of members of Bugs Moran's gang by Mafia crimeboss Al Capone's gang.
It has since been used as a reference for major upsets or losing badly on Valentines day.
