You could probably use Sound Forge to tone down the vocals to a soft hiss. The problem is that you're working with an already recorded song. Look for the song in a .kar file which is a karaoke file sometimes artists will release an instrumental version of a song but it's pretty rare.

I'm not sure that you can, but I know that if you just search the internet you will find the background music. Also try using your setting on the music program that you use. MOst of the time there is a voice balancer or equalizer that will allow you to make the voice softer or louder.

Hope this helps

Adobe audition can do that but you wont ever get a clean beat your still gonna hear a little hiss from the voice but if you want fergalicious pm your email and when I have time I can make one really quick for you.

There is no free software out there that will straight up eliminate vocals without cutting into the instrumental. Alesis makes a piece of hardware for just such a thing for about $200 or you could try to eq it out by trying to cut between 1k and 10k for most vocals and just keep trying until you get it that way. You could also try to get your hands on a copy of cubase and try it that way as well, it has plug ins for everything.
