the time actually gets progressively earlier by one hour each time zone you cross as you head from kansas city to the philippines in the most direct route (heading west), until you cross the international date line where it magically becomes tomorrow the same time. the end result is that the time in the philippines right now is essentially 14 hours later than kansas city. when the dalight savings time switches back the other way in the spring, it will only be 13 hours later. so right now its 12:45am (just after midnight) in Kansas City, and 2:45 pm (afternoon) in the philippines.
