affordable, compared to what? Hightstown is right in the middle of NJ and the housing is cheaper than North Jersey but more expensive than South Jersey. It's maybe 7 or 8 miles from Princeton but the housing in Hightstown is much cheaper than Princeton. I must say, the property taxes in Hightstown are rather high compared to the surrounding area, but there is a good school system. A very diverse mix of people--some African-Amer, plus a very large influx of Latinos recent, people of a fairly wide range of incomes. The downtown has always had an oddball assortment of businesses but there's been some recent improvement in that respect. Some of the main streets have a lot of traffic.
