1. g - 35 = -62

First: isolate "x" on one side & combine "like" terms - add "35" to both sides (when you move a term to the opposite side, always use the opposite sign)...

g - 35 + 35 = - 62 + 35

g = - 27

2. -27 + z = 47

First: isolate "x" on one side > add "27" to both sides...

- 27 + 27 + z = 47 + 27

z = 74

3. -17 = 19 + x

First: isolate "x" on one side > subtract "19" from both sides...

- 17 - 19 = 19 - 19 + x

- 36= x

x = - 36

1. g= -27
2. z= 20
3. x= -36

For #1 you can check g= -27 by doing -27 - 35= -62
If you still don't know do -62 + 35 because you have to add to check this because this is subtraction.

For #2 you have to add 47 + 27 and that equals 74. When you put this into the equation you can check this -27 + 74= 47.

The last one is x= -36. The left side is -17 so you have to make the right side -17. You already have 19 so you have to subtract 19 and that'll drop you to 0. And then another 17 to make it -17. Just add 19 and 17 and that's 36. x= 36.

Amanda has number 2 and number 3 wrong. Time to brush up on the pre-algebra girl.

Paul has explained things correctly, but missed the arithmetic on number 3 (or maybe just typed wrong)
The correct answers are

g = -27
z = 74
x = -36

All you have to do is simplify these equations. For example, on the first one you have to get g by itself, so you would add 35 to both sides.

g-35= -62
+35 +35

g=-62+35

It's really not that hard with a little practice. You should be able to do the rest.
