Hi, I wanted to know what kind of Chameleon are the horned ones, can you buy them at pet stores? Are they safe to keep as pets, what is the best breed of a Chameleon to have? I also dont plan to spend large amounts of money, so if its alot then just forget it, but I would like to know anyways.

The ones with the horns (at least those you are most likely to see in pet stores) are Jackon's chameleons. Any chameleon is a difficult aminal to care for - they need a large enclosure (minimum 24x24x36), preferably mesh, lots of branches to climb and plants for hiding, high humidity, UVB lighting, a source of running/dripping water (they won't drink standing water), and calcium & vitamin supplements. If you get a female, they need a place to lay eggs (even if they're not with a male) or they will become eggbound & die. So they are a LOT of work to keep healthy. Plan on spending 3x (or more) the cost of the animal for everything you're going to need for it.

As cool as they are to look at, they don't like being handled and get stressed out if they are within sight of other lizard/animals, high-traffic areas inside your home, or even around areas with loud noises (vaccuum cleaners). Copperhead is right. It is the Jacksons chameleon that has the 3 horns all pointing forward. You can buy them in pet shops for around 150 bucks give or take. Then around another 100 bucks for the setup.

chameleons are like 80 bucks as babies and 100-130 bucks as adults. i'm pretty sure that's accurate.
