Apollo 8 took astronauts into lunar orbit for the first time in December 1968, but they did not land. And of course Apollo 11 landed on the Moon in July of 1969.

The launch vehicle was a Saturn V rocket.
The command module (which includes the capsule) and the Lunar Module are the only parts that actually went to the moon. All together they were known as Apollo 11. The command module was given the name "Columbia ", and the Lunar Module was given the name "Eagle."

APOLLO 11 carried edwin aldrin,neil armstrong and michael collins to the moon.they reached moon on july 20,1969 and returned back to earth on july 24,1969.
