Here is what I suggest to people who want to learn to ride. Take a motorcycle safety course that is Motorcycle Safety Foundation endorsed. That way you learn the right way to ride and handle emergency situations that can and will occur. You learn on their bikes and if ya "drop it",well,ya won't have to fix it.Then you can decide what bike you might want to buy or can handle as a "rookie rider". I took the advanced course and I thought I knew how to ride but they were able to teach this ol'dog a few new tricks. Good Luck and hope to see ya on the highway some day. A lot of vocational schools and private schools offer this course and you can forgo the state rider exam to get your endorsement and get a break on your insurance cost too.

i wouldnt get anything over a 650 a 1500 is a very big bike i would go with a kawasaki ninga 250 its small lightweightand looks super sporty it only weighs about 350-450 pouns easy to handle and still pretty fast for a small bike itll do 110 with me and i weigh 240 its also pretty cheap new about 2500-3500 and insurance on a smaller motor will probably be between 25-75 dollars good luck and have fun

Look at Kawasaki and Honda and even Yamaha since these are makers of most of the sports bikes find a 250cc or something in that power range remember sports bikes are usually lighter and have more power to weight ratios so until you are experienced do not go above a 250 or your asking for trouble.

1500 Vulcan. They have a low center of gravity making it a good learner bike.
