There could be a lot of reasons why: hormones, pregnancy, whether or not you have children and their ages, stress, or it could just be her normal body "make up" and it's hereditary.

I require more sleep than my husband, always have - but there have been lots of things (illness, children, work, school) that has prevented me from getting those extra two hours. Therefore, he never understands why I always feel tired.

To turn your question around, why do you need 2 LESS hours of sleep than her? Do others in your family have similar sleep habits as you? Do you not sleep as long because you are stressed about money-job-bills, etc? I don't expect you to answer those questions - that's pretty private.

Her sleep habits may never change, and maybe yours won't either. I just know that my husband gets annoyed when I sleep longer, because he feels that I should be up with him and doing things. When we were first married, he thought I was just being lazy - but that had nothing to do with it...really!

Deep sleep or REM is only needed for anyone for 4 hours.

She may be the lucky one getting the right amount or just enough for her.

Stress and alcohol can prevent people from sleeping also.

Dont know how much she is sleeping? a lot of it has to do with our internal clocks, for me deep sleep comes just before dawn and into 8 am, thats when i dream and wake up. When dreaming your in deep sleep.

Good luck!!

Everyone is different.Maybe her health isnt up to par, maybe she has sleeping problems or doesnt fall asleep right away.Stress, not enough R.E.M sleep...any number of things could cause her to need more sleep.Age,weight,hormones...routine,how she was brought up...and woman have different needs than men do.Its all about body chemistry.

Everyone is different. Maybe she works harder than you do :)
Is this a new thing, or has it always been like that? Pregnant women need a lot more sleep.

Every single person is different. There is no 'one' answer for this question.

There are too many variables.

As long as she is getting the rest she needs, you will be happy!

good luck
