I have been offered a job as a customer service rep with Nordstrom and with another company as well. I am very concerned about making the "right" decision as to which company to choose. Can you please tell me specifically what you like/dislike about working at Nordstrom? Any pros and cons would be helpful in getting the "inside scoop" before I make the commitment. Thanks!

(The pay and non-monetary compensation are about the same between Nordstrom and Company X-it's mostly the corporate culture and how they treat their employees that I am interested in. But once again, ANY feedback would be appreciated!)

I am not a customer of Nordstrom's, nor do I know much about the corporation. I do know, however, that Nordstrom's has built the entire culture, business structure, and reputation on their treatment of their customers. It is not an exaggeration to say that they are legendary in this area. I would expect that they're quite selective about who they pick for such work, and if you are picked, you can expect to do some exceedingly unusual work, up to and including delivering items to customers on your own time.

They've been known to be pretty extreme about all this, but it has worked for them as a company, and the employees who stay are enthusiastic. Were you to be hired by them, the experience would serve you well anywhere your future business career might take you.
